About US
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is a United Nations office that
was established in 1997 to assist the UN in better addressing a coordinated,
comprehensive response to the interrelated issues of illicit trafficking in
and abuse of drugs, crime prevention and criminal justice, international
terrorism, and political corruption. These goals are pursued through three
primary functions: research, guidance and support to governments in the
adoption and implementation of various crime-, drug-, terrorism-, and
corruption-related conventions, treaties and protocols, as well as
technical/financial assistance to said governments to face their respective
situations and challenges in these fields.

Job Summary The Associate Programme Management Officer will work under
the overall guidance of the ROEA Representative and the direct supervision of
the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer Violent Extremism in
Prisons in the Programme Office in Uganda POUGA and in close cooperation
with relevant colleagues in the Regional Office for Eastern Africa ROEA and
in the Justice Section JS of UNODC headquarters.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Within assigned authority, the incumbent
will be responsible for the following duties:
Provide substantive and technical expertise for the implementation and assessment of the programme including collection and compilation of relevant background information and statistic data.
Provide support in monitoring all aspects of programme implementation and identify challenges and propose corrective actions to the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer to expedite implementation.
Prepare monthly/semiannual/annual progress reports on programme implementation, as well as summary of achievements report and donor reports.
Undertake associated desk research, field / monitoring missions within the framework of programme implementation.
Support the exchange of knowledge and promising practices in the management of violent extremist prisoners and prevention of radicalization to violence in prisons and promote the whole-of-society approach in prevention of violent extremism.
Together with the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer Violent Extremism in Prisons, contribute to development of funding proposals and other relevant programme-related documents, including contribution to substantive correspondence for a resource mobilization, b partnership building, c reporting.
Perform other work-related duties as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
At least two years of progressively responsible professional experience in programme management including project formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation is required.
Experience in criminal justice matters, as well as exposure to international development cooperation is highly desirable.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of other United Nations official languages is an advantage.
